Reianna,
You posted that the Society never claimed to be inspired..... well let me ask you this, what is a Prophet of God? Is not a Prophet someone who Prophecys???? Has not the organization over and over proclaimed themselves to be God's Prophet?? Indeed they have! And if they are speaking for God, would they not be Inspired??? Surely they would. You see it is a play on words...
The dictionary says, Inspired: is to be imbued with the Spirit to do something, as if by Divine Influence.
Another perfect example of this is when I learned the Societys teaching on the Jesus being the Mediator for ONLY the 144,000, and not the rest of mankind. They say in the same breath he is the High priest for everyone else.
Once again, a play on words....what was the High Priest in Bible times, he was the Mediator! A Mediator between God and his people, and when Jesus, the High Priest arrived, he became the Mediator for ALL MEN.
There is MUCH you obviously are not aware of. Stick around here and you will likely be suprised as to what you may find out about the organization that we all held so dear.
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
Dear Inbetween,
Only talk with someone if you are truely prepared for the consequences. Questioning ANYTHING will raise huge red flags, and no doubt the one you talk with will feel a moral obligation to speak to others what you have confided. Even if you talk with a Elder friend, he will most likely go to the body of Elders alerting them to your questions and they will begin keeping an eye on you.
I remember how afraid I was to go to the Elders or ANYONE for that matter with my questions. From what I read here on the forum, I learned from others experiences, that it was very probable sharing my questions would not end well for me. My husband, who had been a Ministerial Servant, insisted I was being paranoid, and that we wouldn't have any problem if we shared our questions with the Elders.
I was too afraid of being disfellowshipped, and so I made him promise not to say anything to anyone. That lasted for a while, but he felt he could confide in his mother....boy was he wrong!! (I tried to copy the link to my very first post on this forum for you to read the whole story, but since the format has changed, I can't figure out how to find it. Sorry.)
Anyhow, remember...you can question, but you CANNOT question the answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you have DEEP sincere questions, most likely you have done much research, and still things don't make sence. The Elders are trained on how to question, and can very quickly turn the tables on you so be VERY AWARE!!!!! It was my experience that they avoided answering my questions and got flustered with me very quickly, they want to convince you you are spiritually weak for even having questions to begin with. They use twisted reasoning simulare to Reiannas, by asking you "Why would you ask qustions to the things you already have to answers to?" (something to that effect.) And they will want to know how you came to have such questions. They are VERY suspicious because of the internet and sites like these. The point is for you to have conviction in your faith you HAVE TO have answers that make sence and are supported by facts regadless of how you came to question.
As it finally turned out for us, we were eventually disfellowshipped. Still to this day my huband says how he just could not believe at the time how we were to encourage those at the door to question and even "aposticize" their faith, but we cannot question ours.
Side note: There are plenty of articles saying research is a fine thing, and we should make the truth our own, and to do research even with the older publications, but if you do....BEWARE!!! You will be SHOCKED at what you find, as the most damning evidence of all, is the Societys own older literature. You will quickly realize that those articles are not written for those within, but for those coming in or those reading the magazines on the outside.
Also, I want to tell you, you made a EXCELLENT point on your reply to Reianna regarding the disciples of old. We have to remember that Jehovah and Jesus do not change! What is wrong or right in their eyes will continue to be so from now into eternity. So if someone tells you a teachingis now old light, and the thinking changes, then it could not possibly have been from God or Jesus to begin with. Because we know from reading God's word, he does not change. So then we have to ask, who was the teaching from? Was Jesus directing the organization or not? Why would Jesus guide his sheep one way and let them live and die according to that teaching only to perhaps years later change.
Light can get brighter, for example, we learn more reasons to continue supporting a belief that we have learned. Reasons become clearer, we become even more wiser and planted as to why we have always believed a certain way.
But light does not flip off and on..like a light bulb...not if its from God it doesn't. For example something that had been wrong is one day announced to be ok...for instance, for years the Society taught that organ transplants were NOT a conscience matter. It was the same as cannabalism, and if a one were to take a transplant they were to be disfellowshipped for their actions.
Now, however, it is a conscience matter. Think of the thousands who died refusing transplants, who would have maybe still been with us had they not have been faithful to who? Mere men! Certainly the teaching did NOT originate with God but man. The same goes with blood. My Grandfather is dead because he was faithful to a man idea..a teaching that has now changed!! You could not take ANY part of blood then...no fractions. Now....they are a conscience matter. It's very hard to accept for those of us who are left, and who now know the truth about the truth.
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
i am not the oldest but have 3 years here!
restrangled.. how about you?.
Hi Friends...
Been posting for about 3 years bur reading for over 4.
Lady Liberty
my wife and i sent my 22 yr.old pioneer witness daughter and her husband a anniversary card and $ 40.00 and flowers the end of april.
my daughter wrote mrs. flipper and me each our own individual letters thanking us initially for the gifts - and then went into detail as to why she has not spoken to me for over a year and shunned me.. keep in mind as i paraphrase some of the highlights to these letters that the only negative thing i have said about the organization to my daughter in 3 years was to show her the ap news release about the child abuse settlements by the wt society .
i'll quote parts of the letter to mrs. flipper first :.
Dear Mr. And Mrs. Flipper
First I wish I could give you both big hugs!!! It reminds me SO.....much of when my parents 1st left the organization, about two years before I would listen to anything they tried to share with me. I distinctively remember telling my daughter who was then about 10 NEVER to leave Jehovah or his organization, even if something happened to her father or I and we stopped loving Jehovah. ( I sadley equated loving God to loving the organization and did not believe you could have one without the other.) This was said in a very heartelt conversation I had with her after she caught me crying because of my great sadness in losing my parents to Saten. (So I then thought.)
I often think of how greatful I am that she was so young, even though she was very mature being a only child and very knowledgeable regarding JW doctorine at that age, that I could undue and reteach her how her Father and I had been lied to ourselves. Had she been a grown adult I fear we too could be in your situation. So my heart truely goes out to you!!
It took me forever to finally come around to listen to my parents. ( I know you have talked with them at length recently, Rockhound and Sweet Pea.) They have probably told you how difficult it was, and how one of their 5 children are still in and refuse to acknowledge them even when in the same grocery line with only a cart between them. My heart just aches for the pain my brother has inflicted upon them!!
These are the same parents that protected us, provided for us, sacraficed EVERYTHING for us, and who had NEVER lied to us, and yet we doubted them and were scared to listen to them. I feel ashamed that it took me two years to finally listen to those who loved me most in the world. We were in a cult and were completely brainwashed!! In fact I often tell my parents they just trained me TOO good!! In the JW ways that is! So please know others feel your pain and love you both. Please don't give up on her though. I am so greatful my parents didn't give up on me!!! And they are hopeful that one day their son will come around too. It may take much more time, but I gaurentee in the back of her mind all the "crying wolf" the organization does will eventually take it tole and perhaps enough so for them to wake up. Hang in there!!! HUGS to you both!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty
hi friends.... just went to the grocery with my husband and about ran right into a old friend of ours that i have known since we lived in a little one horse town in minnesota when i was in 2nd grade, (32 years ago!!).
i looked at her and she immediately turned her head but kept trying to peak at my husband and i two lanes away through the magazines.
i waited for her to look at me and when she finally did and had eye contact , i started to smile a friendly smile at her and she looked away quickly.

By now I am used to being shunned, however, she was recently disfellowshipped herself, but for screwing her best friends husband!!! ( And it hasn't been the first time she has been unfaithful).
She has the nerve to shun US, yet she is the one who was screwing around on her husband and betraying her best friend!! What a HYPOCRITE!!! I don't know why but from time to time I am still blown away by how SELF RIGHTEOUS they are!!
SORRY..just needed to vent!! It is all so foolish..I know I shouldn't let it get under my skin but it does!! Anyhow..thanks for listening!!

dear friends,.
sunday i recieved a phone call from my mother who said i had to go get the paper and read the article regarding a local kingdom hall that has been on the market forever.
who ever wrote this must know enough about the witnesses and the judicial meetings in the famous back room or "crying room" the article refers it to!.
When they decided to go ahead and build we were out of the Borg. If I recall correctly I believe the old hall was owned free and clear. I bet they have a hard time swallowing the payments during these financially challenging times right about now, especially knowing they had had a hall that virtually was debt free. LOLO!!!

I loved the part where it was describing the 2nd hall as the place to get browbeaten into submission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Friends,
How are you all? Hopefully well. Sunday I recieved a phone call from my Mother who said I had to go get the paper and read the article regarding a local Kingdom Hall that has been on the market FOREVER. We were in this congregation and for years they wanted to build a new one. They prayed and prayed that this hall would sell so they could build a new one. From the platform we were told that if it sold it would be our answer from Jehovah that we had his approval for a new hall. We waited and we waited and no buyers. It remained that way for YEARS!!! Tired of waiting they decided to "go ahead of Jehovah" apparently they were tired of waiting for a "yes" and built a new one not 2 blocks away!!!
It is funny how desperate they are to dump this hall!! So much so that they are willing to donate they're labor to get it off their hands, even if they help another church!!! What a JOKE!!! It must be a shameful reminder to them every time they pass by this ugly vacant hall!!!
Anyhow, you have to read this article it is HYSTERICAL!!! You will find the writer did a great job and will no doubt find a good laugh in reading it. I would love to hear your comments! And perhaps the newspaper would too!!! Happy reading!!
Sincerely,
Lady Liberty

RICK THOMAS/Press Preachers with a congregation but no church have a rare opportunity for a turn-key operation. Chuck Taylor at Realteam Real Estate Center is offering the former Jehovah's Witness facility in Rathdrum for less than $500,000. |
RATHDRUM - The rumors have been rampant in this tiny village for decades. Mysterious disappearances, suspicious characters, murders, cults. Devil worshipers.
Oral Roberts wannabes looking for a starter home might as well begin here. For less than a half million bucks, a turn-key church is on the market, although it may be a little more visible than the typical cultist is seeking.
Vacant since the Jehovah's Witness congregation went on a week-long building binge nearly two years ago, putting up three new churches at once, the 152-seat house of worship at the corner of Highway 41 and Boekel Road might be just the ticket for the next Jim Bakker or Robert Schuller.
It's no Crystal Cathedral, with simple frame construction and pillars made from wallpapered sonic tubes, and as is their fashion, also built more than three decades ago by the members.
Now it is listed by one of their own, Chuck Taylor, an agent at Realteam Real Estate Center in Coeur d'Alene. And it's not that he doesn't want the competition, but with the traffic into the city at record levels, he thinks it might be better suited to use as a convenience store or office space.
But it will cost a bit to make the changes, even with help from the owner/members.
"If it is a church, it is OK," Taylor said.
Bathrooms are ADA acceptable in its current use, and the women's even has a diaper changing area and dressing room, plus some storage. Any change in use will mean the full gamut of permits and upgrades, Taylor said.
One of the major changes required will be filling the sloping floor of the theater-style nave, the auditorium where the pews are attached to the floors with Velcro for easy moving.
"They said they will do it for the $8,000 material cost," Taylor said. "They will donate their time."
Sitting on nearly an acre of ground, with 3,770 square feet of space, the church was left by its prior occupants in relatively pristine condition. An anteroom, or "crying room" as Taylor calls it, seats an additional 20 with privacy perfect for browbeating the unrepentant into submission.
Built to last with 2- by-6 framing, the building's gas heating system has been updated and the church is also air conditioned.
Near the front entrance stands a pedestal for signing in to special functions. It is also conveniently equipped with slots on top to accept donations to the cause.
The asking price is $498,000, and is already being considered as office space. But as rare as a ready-made church may be, they do come available from time to time. Taylor has sold three already.
Devil worshipers may prefer a quieter setting, however. The last traffic count at the intersection was 12,000 vehicles a day.
"I think it's gone up considerably," Taylor said.
